ePI - ePI Pilot wraps up: an important step towards providing medicines information for patients and healthcare professionals
The ePI pilot, launched in July 2023, has successfully concluded with the publication of 23 ePIs in the course of live regulatory procedures for centrally and nationally authorised medicines. The data gathered during the pilot will inform definition of a pathway towards getting the European Union to digitised and up-to-date product information, for healthcare professionals and patients.

Supported by the EU funding programme EU4Health, the pilot was jointly led by the European Medicines Agency and the national medicines agencies of the Netherlands (MEB), Spain (AEMPS), Denmark (DKMA), and Sweden (MPA).
The goal of the pilot was to gather feedback on the inclusion of ePI into business processes, as well as on the creation and management of ePI via the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Portal.

The ePIs published during the pilot can be consulted at the PLM Portal and ePI data accessed via a public application programming interface (API).
Now, the data collected during the pilot will be analysed, with the aim of extracting insights that will be crucial for the overall refinement and optimisation of the project and for defining next steps for the release of ePI.
More information on the pilot is available at EMA, MEB and MPA websites.
